The plan was to pull the front Y off, install the X-pipe, install the mufflers, and leave the stock resonators on (for now, at least).

My muffler guy said things should be easy enough, and likes the fact that the underside is set up for dual exhaust. From there, it branches out into another Y, reducing again to 2.25", to two resonators, then out through the exhaust tips. Both of them actually arrived the next day, gotta love Amazon Prime! I also ordered a standard 2.5" stamped aluminized steel x-pipe off of eBay.įor anyone who hasn't crawled under there and looked at the exhaust setup, you have dual exhaust coming from the headers and through the catalytic converters, reducing from 2.5" to 2.25" where it joins a Y, then expands back into 2.5" pipe before entering a single in/out muffler on the right side of the car.

Since I was having a problem finding the part number for a stock heatshield for a dual exhaust system, I gave up and also ordered the Thermo-Tec 13575 12" X 24" Adhesive Backed Heat Barrier through Amazon on the same order as the mufflers. Looking underneath the car, I didn't think that the center exit would be a problem to install. The ones that are called for are the #17159 offset/offset however, those were on backorder or something, but Amazon Prime could have the #17156 offset/center to me with free 2 day delivery. I looked around and found a good price on Amazon for a pair. They claim to eliminate the drone, and some reviews I've found support that claim. At lower RPMs, it shunts the air through the rest of the muffler. I like the idea it's got a spring loaded flapper valve inside, so when you get on the throttle, it pops open and acts like a cutout valve.

Me, I'm just looking for a bit more sound and a little money left in my pocket. The cat back systems are pretty expensive, and from what I can gather are meant to be a drop-in system that anyone can do in their own garage. Looked at all the setups talked about on the forums here considered Magnaflow, Flowmaster, Corsa, and the rest.
